Welcome to the offshore wind conference Science Meets Industry 2022, 25 October in Bergen.
At Science Meets Industry Bergen academics and professionals from the business community and the public sector get together to exchange new knowledge and ideas.
Topic of 2022: Speed and volume
The topic of this year’s conference is the speed and volume of the offshore wind energy development in Norwegian waters.
We will discuss the processing of license applications for offshore wind power; is it possible to speed it up while retaining good practice? Several companies will present their plans and concepts for offshore wind development in Norway and internationally.
Research and education are critical to achieve profitable offshore wind projects in Norwegian waters, and the University of Bergen will display its research on wind and wave conditions in the Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø II.
Networking is an important part of the conference, and we encourage our participants to socialize during lunch and coffee breaks.
The conference is organized by Bergen Offshore Wind Centre (BOW), NORCE and GCE Ocean Technology.

15:00 Danish Energy Islands: Empowering the Energy Transition
Denmark has ambitious plans for utilizing its renewable energy sources by building Energy Islands in the North and Baltic Seas. Each Energy Island in the North Sea represents a major power infrastructure opportunity estimated at ~300bn NOK. What opportunities does this bring for the Norwegian supply chain in the offshore industries, and what are the comparative advantages of the Norwegian industry?
The Norwegian Embassy in Copenhagen and Innovation Norway in cooperation with GCE Ocean Technology invites you to learn more about the Danish Energy Islands and opportunities for the Norwegian supply chain. The session will be opened by Norway’s ambassador to Denmark, Katja Christina Nordgaard. Hanne Storm Edlefsen from Energinet will present the current state of the energy islands, followed by an intervention from Green Ducklings presenting an analysis of where the comparative advantages and opportunities for the Norwegian supply chain have been identified. We invite you to join us for a networking reception after the session.
Programme:
- Opening address – Katja Christina Nordgaard – Norwegian Ambassador to Denmark
- Energy Islands – Hanne Storm Edlefsen – Energinet
- Norwegian supply chain possibilities to Danish Energy Islands – Kristian Ascanius Jacobsen – Green Ducklings
