Learn about some of our newest cluster members – perhaps a future partner for your company?

The most recent new members of the GCE Subsea cluster represent diversity in geography; Stavanger, Haugesund, Oslo, Bergen, diversity in size; from large mature companies to small one-man-bands and diversity in type; research institute, simulator centre, SMB’s and startups.

This diversity is crucial for maintaining a good balance of members that can complement each other and strengthen the cluster’s total innovation capacity.

Research and Simulation

We are very proud to have The Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) on board. Water in many forms and fashions is widely used in offshore processes, with a constant focus on environmental issues related to water.

Another recent member is Simsea AS in Haugesund, with an impressive array of marine simulators for navigation, heavy lifting, dynamic positioning, anchor handling, ROV handling and more.

Startups

Three startups have also joined our cluster recently. One of these is a marine renewable energy company; Neoturbine AS in Oslo, who has a novel approach to tidal energy, where many of the technological challenges of operating under water are very similar to those of subsea technology. This member fits well in with GCE Subsea’s crossover focus. Other startups include Moonshine Solutions AS with their smart centralizer (Smartalizer) and Sjø Drilling AS with an interesting new deep-water drilling concept.

SMB’s

New SMB members include Bergen Group Services AS, Imenco AS, Ejecto AS, NaCoM AS and BRI Cleanup AS, all leaders within certain niches. They all work within subsea, in addition to other interesting related fields. Here you will find expert knowledge within such diverse areas as naval ship maintenance, offshore helicopter fuel stations, downhole cameras, fresh water production, wastewater treatment, offshore heavy lifting equipment and even such specialised systems as dynamic desander systems.

In challenging times, it is good to see that many companies realise the value of cooperation, sharing and learning by joining innovation clusters.
