The 24th Underwater Technology Conference in Bergen, Norway 12 – 14 June 2018: Subsea – Unlocking the Potential!

Although the recovery of the oil and gas industry from the deepest downturn on record is taking longer than anticipated, we are beginning to see an uptick in activity in many areas of the world.

Hydrocarbons will continue to dominate the energy mix for decades to come, with oil being the primary source. Gas is expected to gain in importance, substituting coal for electric power generation.

Within this context, our ability to produce oil and gas in the most cost-effective, safe and environmentally sustainable way will be a deciding factor, and the focus on capital efficiency brought by the downturn must be maintained, to keep subsea and deepwater developments competitive in the long run.

Optimising recovery and resource utilisation will remain key, with technology and innovation being the enablers. Digitalisation, remote operations and robotics will play a major role in helping the industry to achieve simplification efficiencies while increasing production. Retention and further development of the best talents in the industry will be central to the continued success of subsea.

Many traditional oil companies are expanding their horizons towards new energy and the way it is generated. This crossover has been witnessed also among many IOCs, and we believe that subsea technology can significantly influence this trend, benefiting the entire industry.

In addition to all the topics of interest listed, where we continue to make remarkable progress, the UTC Program Committee is also soliciting presentations and papers related to the crossover discussed above. We are very much looking forward to receiving your abstracts, which will once again contribute to making UTC the main international technical conference within the subsea industry.

To see the listed topics of interest, the submittal requirements, guidelines and all the details for the abstracts call, go to the UTC Call for Abstracts website.

Deadline is 20 January 2018.
