3D Printer Available for the Subsea Cluster

GCE Subsea has recently acquired a state-of-the-art 3D printer which is available to cluster members and partners free of charge.

As part of the ongoing initiative of improving work processes though digitalisation and Industrie 4.0, GCE Subsea has acquired an Ultimaker 3 extended 3D printer. This is a perfect tool for testing concepts and building prototypes.

Making Things Happen

The 3D printer can be found in the future makerspace that Bergen Teknologioverføring (BTO) is establishing at Marineholmen. Using the printer is free of charge for GCE Subsea members and partners, and a cost model will be implemented for other users.

Start Printing!

As a user, you are required to have a working 3D model of your product/prototype in order to start printing. In order to translate the model into printable format, free open source software is required. Any assistance related to creating 3D models and making these ready for print will be handled by BTO at hourly rates.

An online booking portal will be developed, but until this is in place please send an email to gisle.nondal@gcesubsea.no with the subject “3D print” if you are interested in using the 3D printer.
