Digitalising Norway – We Want You!
Innovation Norway has challenged the clusters to take a leading role in digitalising Norway. GCE Subsea has responded by increasing our focus on work processes targeted towards Industrie 4.0. In that respect we have kicked off a strategic collaborative project with GCE NODE and GCE Blue Maritime and encourage your participation.
The fourth industrial revolution, commonly labelled Industrie 4.0, represents the current trend of automatisation and digitalisation in manufacturing technologies. This includes cyber-physical systems (e.g. robotics, smart sensors, smart factories), Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing.
The term Industrie 4.0 originated in Germany referring to a strategic initiative led by the German government, promoting computerisation of manufacturing. The aim of the initiative is to increase the competitiveness of the manufacturing companies through smarter manufacturing processes.
Learning from the Best
GCE Subsea recently became a member of the German Norwegian Chamber of Commerce and Industry after participating on an Industrie 4.0 study tour to Stuttgart Germany, visiting companies like Daimler – Benz, Festo and Homag. The membership ensures access to potential German collaborators and fits well with GCE Subsea currently recruiting an EU Advisor to capitalise from large EU funding opportunities within Industrie 4.0.
In Norway, the Raufoss industry including NCE Raufoss Manufacturing and the industry in Kongsberg with NCE Systems Engineering, are at a forefront with regards to Industrie 4.0. This was well presented at the recent Smart Manufacturing conference in Kongsberg.
Strategic GCE Collaboration Project
GCE Subsea, GCE NODE and GCE Blue Maritime recently kicked off a major project for restructuring of the supplier industry within the petroleum sector. We now invite you to join us in developing the fourth industrial revolution for Norway.
The overarching goal of the project is to backsource activities through innovation, data processing and production automation, to trigger increased employment and improved competitiveness in the Southern and Western part of Norway.
Additional goals include innovative contributions along the value chain with specific focus on elements to increase competiveness through; new business models, new digitised technologies, production automatisation, data communication and simulation improvements. Furthermore, the project aims to prevent diluting of core competencies and increase market footprint and share for the participating companies.
It Happens Now!
The project targets partners and members of the three GCE clusters. There is no direct cost associated with participating, however it is expected that the companies contribute with in-kind hours.
We encourage GCE Subsea members and partners to participate; Express your interest by sending an email to Gisle Nondal with the subject title “Industrie 4.0” by 13 January.
