Christian Michelsen Research (CMR) has established a mobile platform solution for performing motion tests and measurements. Learn more about this and other test infrastructure and data available, in a joint offshore wind seminar with NORCOWE 24 August.

The motion platform is a six degree of freedom (6DOF) hexapod. It is established in cooperation with the University of Agder (UiA), as an extension to the existing Motion Lab facilities at UiA in Grimstad. Mobile Motion Lab is funded by a national research infrastructure grant from the Research Council of Norway.

Many Applications

The motion platform is available to rent for both industrial and academic organisations. Examples of possible application areas include maritime landing and personnel transfer gear, motion compensated crane validation, inertial measurement unit certification and ultrasonic and lidar anemometer verification.

The platform is mounted on a car trailer, and an integrated diesel power aggregate secures operation independent from test site infrastructure. Motion patterns are fully configurable via pattern generator tools, UDP streaming or playback of recorded motions, e.g. from wave sensors. The platform has a payload capacity of 1500 kg.

For key performance specifications see Mobile Motion Lab flyer.
