Continued Collaboration with Kolibri

GCE Subsea’s speaker gifts represent hope for the future: We continue our collaboration with the Kolibri Foundation which ensures Brazilian children’s education.

The story of Kolibri and its founder Gregory Smith is quite well known in Western Norway. In 1992 Smith left his comfortable life in Bergen behind. He sold all his possessions and auctioned off his house and belongings in order to leave for São Paulo, Brazil to work with street children. He formed Kolibri – the Children At Risk Foundation an enterprise currently engaged in preventative work to keep children from ending up on the streets.

How We Support

Kolibri is fully dependant on people’s generosity. Private individuals, establishments, schools, and kindergartens contribute with most of the foundations means of finance.

– GCE Subsea supports Kolibri by purchasing framed pictures as gifts to speakers at our events, says Anne-Grethe Solbakk, Head of Finance and Communication at GCE Subsea. – Many of the cluster members have a presence in Brazil already and it is a clear ambition for the cluster to be present in Brazil in the future. By supporting Kolibri we contribute to the community we sought to do business in, by helping Kolbri’s important work of taking care of, and educating homeless children in Brazil, Solbakk concludes.

– We are very proud and pleased with the collaboration we have with GCE Subsea. Your initiative is an excellent example of corporate social responsibility in practice. Besides obtaining a nice profit from the sale of the paintings, which helps finance our work in Brazil, GCE Subsea also contributes to “spread the word” about us by giving the pictures to their speakers, says Sigve Fjeldtvedt, CEO at Kolibri CARF.

– We have been serving and supporting children in Brazil for 25 years. One of the main tools in our work is art and culture and GCE Subsea´s contribution is destined to support the art workshops, he ends.
