Norwegian-Brazilian Business and Science Week
Brazil is one of the most relevant export markets for the Norwegian subsea and ocean industry. There are more than 100 Norwegian companies established in the country with activities in various sectors and technology areas. The vast majority of these companies are in the offshore energy industries.
Many Brazilian and Norwegian actors have joined forces to organise the first Norwegian-Brazilian Business and Science Week in November 2017 among others;
- Embaixada Real da Noruega em Brasília
- Real Consulado Geral da Noruega - Rio de Janeiro
- NBCC
- Norges forskningsråd
- Finep - Inovação e Pesquisa
The week of events will take place in four different cities in Brazil in November. The agenda will focus on the themes: energy, ocean technology and economy, bioeconomy and biodiversity.
GCE Subsea is an active partner in the programme committee for the subsea and ocean industry related topics and will also contribute as speakers during the conference week. All these events will take place in Rio de Janeiro.
Ocean Industries
The ocean economy will be a main contributor for future growth. The coexistence of different sectors in the same element is key to long-term sustainable operations. Bringing together technologies, experiences and mindsets from the oil and gas industry, fishery, aquaculture and other emerging ocean technologies is an essential topic at the conference.
Oil and Gas Sector
The cooperation between Norway and Brazil has been increasing the last 10 years, especially within the oil and gas sector. Both countries have challenges within RD&I, that is considered best solved by joint efforts, bringing together the competences, technologies and industrial players of both countries.
Common R&D Goals
The conference will in 2017 focus on six thematic research areas, each closely related to the technological target areas in the BN21 - a bilateral agreement between Brazil and Norway. These areas are important for both countries’ energy industry. The common goal of the conference on both the Brazilian and the Norwegian sides, is that these research areas should not only foster and promote more state-of-the-art research, but also generate relevant higher education and increased cooperation with industry.
