Innovation Award Winner Visits Subsea Innovation Day
Asgeir J. Sørensen, Professor and Centre manager at NTNU, was recently awarded the Innovation award by the Research Council of Norway. At our Subsea Innovation Day 16. September, Sørensen will present how the centre works to strengthen innovation.
Sørensen is heading the Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems (AMOS) at NTNU, which has the status as Center of Excellence.
Several Spin-offs
Sørensen has, together with other AMOS key researchers, started seven growth companies that combined have a shareholder value of several hundred million NOK and employ over 200 people. Some of these companies are Marine Cybernetics, Eelume, Ecotone and Blueye.
We look forward to hearing Sørensen present at our event “Subsea Innovation Day”, where he will discuss how they work to support industry with competence to develop the next generation of autonomous systems.
Sørensen was moreover instrumental in establishing the test site for underwater drones in Trondheimsfjorden ealier this year.
The Forefront, Challenges and Opportunities
At our Subsea Innovation Day you will hear presentations from several world’s first’s like Swire Seabed’s first autonomous inspection of subsea pipeline and Offshore Sensing’s first Atlantic crossing by an unmanned surface vehicle.
You will hear about Aker BP and Equinor’s ongoing projects, challenges and ideas for the future and we will also hear start-ups telling about their solutions for cost efficient autonomous offshore operations.
