Cluster Insight With Mekatronikk
– We have developed our own unique solutions based on blockchain and digital twins. The introduction of this into the marketplace is what takes up most of my focus just now, says Richard Nilsen from Mekatronikk.
Cluster insight is a column where we ask six questions to catch a glimpse into the daily business-lives of the cluster partners and members.
In last week’s Cluster Insight we spoke with Kari Marvik from NORCE who sent the baton over to Richard Nilsen in Mekatronikk. He runs an innovative, electronic manufacturing company located at Nyborg in Bergen.

What is your role in Mekatronikk
My official role as CEO is very much about sales, marketing and business development. Being a small company means that managers must handle multiple roles. -
Your main focus at work right now is?
We are currently developing the company from being primarily a manufacturing company a few years ago, to now having quite extensive R&D activities. At the same time, we have developed our own unique solutions based on blockchain and digital twins. The introduction of this into the marketplace is what takes up most of my focus just now. -
Biggest challenges for Mekatronikk in the future
The biggest challenge going forward is to balance the use of our limited resources and simultaneously take on new projects and continue the growth of the company. -
Best part of being member in a cluster
GCE Ocean Technology, as the main ocean industry cluster, has helped us broaden our network and invited us into several interesting projects. I would especially like to point out the ScaleUp growth programme that we attended last year. The programme gave us a good toolbox that we now use everyday when entering new projects. -
Your business motto
Nothing happens before you start. -
Which cluster member should we interview next?
