FFI in the Forefront
Despite their names, AUV are not autonomous. They are operated, supervised and supported by a nearby vessel. At our Subsea Innovation day, Torstein Olsmo Sæbø will present the steps and challenges to make AUVs truly autonomous.
The Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) has worked with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) for several decades. They have built an extensive, fundamental understanding of technology related to underwater aided inertial navigation, scene analysis, control autonomy and sonar single processing. In collaboration with Kongsberg Maritime, FFI has developed the HUGIN AUV and several software products related to AUV applications, both civilian and military.
We very much look forward to here Torstein and other leading authorities within autonomy presenting at out Subsea Innovation Day.
