Electric City - Time for Action is Now
We joined 6500 visitors and 400 exhibitors at WindEurope's annual on- and offshore wind energy conference, Electric City in Copenhagen this week.
There is an immense acceleration in the offshore wind market in Europe right now. Big development projects are executed and even bigger ones are planned.
Hanne Storm Edlefsen, VP Energy Islands, in Energinet gave us an introduction to the Danish Energy Islands projects. These will be important for the infrastructure in the Southern North Sea with ambitions to power 12 million households by 2031.
– This industry will create jobs and increase exports, said the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre whome were also present at the event. – Sam Eyde, who founded Norsk Hydro, is one of my heroes. Lets have the same ambitions for offshore wind, said Vestre.
Marte Mjøs Persen, the Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, should have been at Electric City, but the Ministry is currently busy sorting the feedback received on the Utstira Nord and Sørlige Norsjø 2 areas that were opened up for wind power development before summer.

GCE Ocean Technology was fortunate enough to be invited to one-on-one meetings with Iberdrola, Total Energies, EnBW, Rambøll and Green investment Group, where we got the opportunity to present our cluster and how our members can contribute in the booming market of offshore wind.
It was great to meet up with members like Imenco, 4Subsea, DeepOcean, Corvus Energy, Unitech Energy, Kluge, DNV, Equinor and Head Energy and discuss future opportunities for the cluster, moreover to spot the trends and listen to thought leaders predicting the future of offshore wind and beyond.
