The energy market has changed dramatically during the last months. Jarand Rystad stated in E24 in March, , that the oil and gas sector has gone from “zero to hero” in 14 days. The mineral market has changed similarly fast, with diversification and security of supply on top of our agenda.
We are pleased to welcome Lars Eirik Nicolaisen, Senior Partner & Deputy CEO in Rystad Energy to UTC Day 0. Nicolaisen will be presenting both at our UTC Marine Minerals seminar and at the UTC Market Outlook seminar, covering respectively the minerals market and the energy market seen in relations to the ongoing energy and security crises in Europe.
From fossil fuels to minerals
Many are pointing out that the green shift represents a transition from a fossil fuelled energy sector to a mineral-based energy sector. This shift, and the need for minerals to fuel the energy transition is the background for our UTC Marine Minerals seminar.
Rystad Energy forecasted the possibility for marine minerals as a new billion-dollar industry in 2020. Nicolaisen headed the work with this study, and he will give us all an update about that, seen in conjunction with Rystad's recent updates in expected growth rate for batteries.

The UTC Market Outlook seminar 14 June 14:30-19:00 will feature two main sessions:

Lars Eirik Nicolaisen will talk about the oil and gas marked in the energy transformation.
