Once upon a week in Bergen

The King, Crown Prince, Prime Minister of Norway, as well as global players and thought influencers, gathered in Bergen to take part in One Ocean Week.

With spectacular weather throughout the week, it felt like a bit of a fairytale when the sailing vessel Statsraad Lehmkuhl, also known as the White Lady, arrived in Bergen on April 15th at noon.

After an adventurous circumnavigation of the globe that took 18 months were official invitations had been extended to attend the One Ocean Week in every port that it had visited, its arrival kicked off the week thouroughly.

An eventful week

Over 150 events were held, where businesses, industries, academia, local government, and the public all contributed to the programme. From site visits and panel discussions to networking and workshops, there was something for everyone.

Although it may be too early to see the full impact and ripple effects of the First edition of One Ocean Week, it has undoubtedly increased awareness among people and businesses and placed the ocean at the top of their minds for a long time. Hopefully, this will lead to a faster green transition.

We extend our gratitude to Ocean City Bergen and partners, Bergen Municipality, Vestland County Municipality and everyone who participated at our events.

We look forward to One Ocean Week 2024.
