Accelerating the energy transition through seabed minerals and hydrogen
Adepth Minerals and TechnipFMC, backed by the Green Platform Initiative, are driving sustainable solutions through seabed mining and hydrogen, respectively, and are poised to make a significant impact in the future.
Adepth Minerals aims to establish the basis for a complete value chain for seabed minerals with the goal of significant less environmental footprint compared to current land-based mining.
The project was awarded NOK 70.8 million from the Green Platform Initiative recently and will use the funding to advance knowledge and address key questions related to establishing a new industry for critical minerals needed for the energy transition.
Adepth Minerals plans to demonstrate world-leading technology for environmentally friendly production and processing, which will contribute to the responsible utilization of seabed mineral deposits, increase value creation for partners, and bolster Norway's position and export opportunities in a rapidly growing international market.
TechnipFMC has been awarded 76 million dollars from Green Platform to lead one of eleven projects aimed at developing innovative, sustainable solutions.
The project, which is in partnership with NYMO, Umoe Advanced Composites, Odda Technology, Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge, Kongsberg klyngen, Statkraft, Topeka holding, will focus on creating a secure and efficient system for storing compressed hydrogen underwater.
Hardanger Hydrogen Hub, on the other hand, is a development project aimed at creating a secure and reliable system for storing compressed hydrogen underwater in the Hardanger region of Norway. The project will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demand for hydrogen in the region and is a continuation of Tizir's hydrogen conversion plans.
