Substantial seabed mineral resources
Join our seminar 19 April to learn more about the Norwegian Petroleum Directorates seabed minerals assessment for the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Key industry players, researchers and organisations are invited to discuss how we can work together to strengthen the knowledge basis and what it will take to succeed.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) published a report earlier this year reporting substantial seabed mineral resources on the Norwegian shelf.
We look forward to hearing Hans Martin Veding, Statistician at NPD, present the basis for, and methodology behind this report.
Ministry to give opening speech
Amund Vik, State Secretary, the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will open the event, presenting the status of the ongoing impact assessment.
The Norwegian government believes that seabed minerals can become a new industry that will supply the world with critical minerals for the energy transition. However, the government has emphasized that more exploration is needed to make sure the resources can be developed in a cost-effectively and environmentally sound way.
At this seminar we will discuss how we can work together to strengthen the knowledge basis and what it will take to succeed.
Leading industry and researcher
We are pleased to announce a program with leading experts from universities, research institutes and industry to address different aspects, dilemmas, challenges and possibilities related to seabed minerals as an emerging industry.
The goal is to share knowledge and foster innovation to accelerate deep sea exploration and strengthen the knowledge basis.

About
Accelerating deep sea exploration is an event where we discuss how we can work together to strengthen the knowledge basis and what it will take to succeed within seabed minerals.
Different stakeholders are invited to present and discuss the challenges and opportunities arising with this emerging industry. How does the roadmap ahead look like, what are the key actions needed and what joint projects should be established to move forward.
