New job portal for companies that want to recruit students in Bergen
Does your company have vacant positions, internships, projects, or volunteer opportunities suitable for students or recent graduates? Submit your job listing to HVL’s new job portal.
Student in Western Norway is the name of the job portal created based on demand from the workforce, and it has garnered substantial interest from the students at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL).
– We are constantly approached by companies and the public sector looking to advertise job opportunities to our students, says John Tveit, Head of the Department for Community Engagement, Industry Collaboration, and Lifelong Learning at HVL.
– Whether it's part-time jobs related to specific study programs or job prospects for newly graduated candidates from HVL. We haven't had an effective way to reach out to students with these offers, but now we can consolidate these opportunities in one place, namely StudentinWesternNorway.no.

Relevant part-time employment
An analysis by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund shows that nearly 9 out of 10 full-time students work alongside their studies. However, it's important to note that the amount of work students undertake varies significantly. One purpose of the job portal is to showcase job opportunities that connect education with the workforce. Part-time jobs related to education can be beneficial for both students and employers.
– Through a relevant part-time job, students will gain relevant work experience, build networks in the industry they aim to enter, and gain experience from the reality awaiting them after completing their education. Simultaneously, the company fills a real need and strengthening the connection between education and the workforce, explains Tveit.
