Expanding test centre services for our members
Sustainable Energy Catapult Centre and GCE Ocean Technology have entered into a strategic collaboration agreement giving members of GCE Ocean Technology access to extended services.
– Through this agreement we provide a shorter route from idea to market to our partners and member companies, says Owe Hagesæther, CEO in GCE Ocean Technology.
The Catapult Centre for Sustainable Energy (SEEC) is a driving force for the green transition, as they possess equipment, testing facilities and know-how for green energy solutions.
All member companies of GCE Ocean Technology will have access to the catapult centre through this agreement, giving you an unique opportunity to test your hardware and software related to floating offshore wind, among other things.
Test facilities for floating offshore wind
Among the testing facilities provided through the Sustainable Energy Catapult Centre is Zefyros, the first ever floating wind turbine previously known as Hywind Demo, located just off the coast of Karmøy.
The Unitech-owned turbine offer opportunities for testing various components and systems relevant to floating offshore wind concepts including SCADA systems, sensors, access systems, anchoring / mooring and more.
SECC also offer laboratories for testing components, green energy carriers, small-scale gas solutions, testing of intelligent energy systems and testing on ships.
A win-win collaboration
– We are happy to welcome GCE Ocean Technology and their members to our extensive network of knowledge and testing facilities. We aim to be a national driving force within the green transition for new and sustainable energy solutions, says Willie Wågen, CEO of Sustainable Energy Catapult Centre.
– This new collaboration will strengthen our position and bring more ground-breaking innovations to the market, Wågen explains.
He underlines the importance of the Energy House – the world-leading test centre on Stord:
– Energy House is a crucial player in the green maritime transition. The shipping industry needs to implement the use of future fuels to meet the fast-approaching climate goals. Having a complete “ship on land” give our clients a safe way to test and validate their new solutions before putting them into operation, says Wågen.
– This is a win-win for everybody! says Owe Hagesæther, CEO of GCE Ocean Technology.
– We are looking forward to collaborating with the Sustainable Energy Catapult Centre on projects of common interest and we will also look at possibilities for EU funding among other things. SECC will also join our Resource Group for renewable energy, Hagesæther ends.
