Yes, we are! GCE Ocean Technology is happy to announce that we have once again been awarded the prestigious Cluster Management Excellence Label GOLD – Proven for Cluster Excellence.
Every two years, we undergo an extensive evaluation by the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI).
The goal? To ensure that we maintain the highest standards of cluster management. A total of 31 quality indicators are assessed to determine how well our cluster is being facilitated.

How Does the Evaluation Work?
The process is thorough. Two independent experts interview our cluster managers, about every aspect of our work. But interviews alone aren't enough – we also need to provide detailed documentation that backs up our achievements.
These documents are carefully reviewed by the experts, who then determine how we score across all 31 indicators.
Achieving Excellence
To be awarded the Gold Label, a cluster must achieve at least 80% on the overall excellence scale. For the past 11 years, since 2013, we have consistently been ranked at the very top of Europe’s elite – and this year is no different.

The Gold Label evaluation took place in Bergen, Norway on June 20th, 2024, conducted by Tor Arne Bellika (lead expert) and Eivind Petershagen (local expert) from Innovation Performance AS.
