Collaboration on Autonomy
The conference opened with discussions on national and international regulatory developments for autonomous and unmanned vessels.
Norway is among the countries in front, having signed a collaboration agreement last year with the UK, Belgium, Denmark and the Netherlands to strengthen the cooperation of autonomous operations of ships.
GCE Ocean Technology has recently established a resource group within autonomy and remote operations.
If you are interested in joining, please get in touch with Jon. O. Hellevang.
Not Everyone Trust AI
While artificial intelligence (AI) was a major theme, there mentioning of customers being sceptical towards AI and fully automated solutions.
A key question is how to utilize new technologies to secure value and trust in the results?
We saw many good examples of new solutions in use and how AI assist experts in decision making, combining the best in technology and expertise.
Another question raised is who captures the value of innovation? Is it only the operators, or can companies tap into increased efficiency beyond coming in position to deliver?
These are important considerations as AI and automation continue to reshape the offshore industry.
