Cluster Insight with Æge Energy

Æge Energy is positioning itself as a one-stop shop for grid connection for renewable projects and industry—but slow regulations risk stalling progress. CEO Ole-Kristian Jacobsen shares his insights.
In this edition of our Cluster Insight series, we speak with Ole-Kristian Jacobsen of Æge Energy, to gain insights into their current focus, future challenges, and the benefits of cluster membership.
1. What is your role in Æge Energy?
I serve as the CEO of Æge Group and the Managing Director of Æge Energy.
2. Your primary focus right now is?
Our main focus is to establish the group as a "One-Stop Shop" for grid connection of renewable energy production and green power-intensive industries.
Moreover, leading and motivating our talented employees in their daily work is also really important to us.
3. Biggest future challenges and opportunities?
Æge has significant opportunities due to our expertise and experience in securing grid connections for production or consumption within the Norwegian grid system.
Given the current climate challenges and the need for a transition to green industries, we observe an increasing demand for our core competencies, resulting in a higher workload across multiple segments.
However, a future challenge lies in the apparent discrepancy between political goals and the necessary decisiveness required to achieve this transition as fast as needed.
The existing regulations are simply not adapted to a world where rapid change is essential.
While this situation increases Æge's workload, there is a concern that investors seeking grid connections and energy reservations may lose faith and seek new markets for their projects.
4. Best part of being member in a cluster?
Beyond the pleasure of participating in the Ocean Tech Scaling Program, the membership allows us to expand our network, to connect with new collaborators and potential customers, and gain access to conferences both as a participants and speakers.
5. Your business/life motto?
My motto is: "If you don't take any chances in life, you won't win either."
6. Which cluster member should we interview next?
I recommend interviewing Kristian Utkilen from Aragon or Frode Fjell from Heinzmann.
Thank you for the insight Ole-Kristian!
