Talented Interns Join Reach Subsea in Bergen

This spring, William, Marie and Kaja are joining Reach Subsea’s monitoring department in Bergen. The trio will explore new market opportunities and gain hands-on experience with the company’s innovative technologies.


William Hutchkinson and Marie Vika are both master’s students from the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL).

They will be working full-time to analyze market opportunities for Reach Subsea's world leading technology gWatch until May.

gWatch measures changes in the gravity field and seafloor subsidence with an accuracy far beyond the reach of any alternative technology.

Exploring Offshore Africa

William will explore potential gas fields offshore Africa. With his French-German background, he will engage with African stakeholders and promote the innovative solutions developed by Reach Subsea,

– Gaining valuable insights into driving innovation and contributing to a more sustainable energy industry is something I look forward to, says William.

Barriers in Norwegian CCS Market

Marie will investigate barriers in the Norwegian CCS market. 

Through her studies—both in her bachelor’s degree in organizational psychology, HR, and leadership, and now in her master’s in innovation and leadership—she has developed a strong interest in innovation, sustainability, technology, HR, and business development.

Three Week Geo-Internship

Reach Subsea provides flexible and smart geophysical monitoring solutions for hydrocarbon producing fields offshore.

Kaja Friis Ruud is currently a third-year bachelor’s student in geophysics at the University of Bergen, graduating this summer.

This semester, she is undertaking a course in geo-internship, which includes a three-week operational experience at Reach Subsea.

Kaja will be working with the Geoscience team and learning about the companies’ leading technology over the coming months.

–I am particularly excited about applying my academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain hands-on experience with Reach’s cutting-edge technology and projects, says Kaja whom has a keen interest in geophysical data analysis.

– Having students with us in these internships is very important as it allows us to promote what we do and meet potential employees, says Group Monitoring Director, Leon Løvheim.
